Belt loosening
Sun-drying grass skis can cause the belt to shrink. A tightened belt creates extra friction and slows the ski down — but loosening it takes only a few minutes and two tools.
When to adjust belt tension: Belt tension (together with roller wear) has a big impact on how the ski rolls. If the belt is too tight (feels hard), the ski will roll slowly. If the belt is too loose (noticeable slack), the ski may feel very free-rolling, but the top speed and stability can drop.
What you need: a Phillips screwdriver and a 7 mm wrench.
Turn the ski upside down and rest it on the binding.
Rotate the belt until the two-bolt connector is centered under the binding.
Use the screwdriver and wrench to loosen — but do not remove — the two screws on the connector.
With the screws loose, gently push the belt outward along the bar using a screwdriver tip or a ski pole tip. Work in several spots so the slack is distributed evenly.
When the belt moves freely, tighten both screws securely before riding.
